Labor Day Fun!

Luke, enjoying Der Dutchman in Waynesville!
We hope you've had a great Labor Day weekend! The weather has been beautiful and we've taken advantage of the long weekend to spend it with our families. Jennie has been down at their house in Lake Cumberland and I have enjoyed some quality family time with my boys! Luke has had a little cold so we haven't done too much but I did manage to make it to a great local farmer's market (Landen Farmer's Market) on Saturday and get the last of the corn that's in season to put in the freezer to last us through the winter. I'll be making a post this week about how I made creamed corn and made batches of whole kernel corn that's super easy to freeze!
Sunday we ended up running a few errands and getting Luke some much needed new shoes, with the weather getting a little cooler I figured Luke really couldn't wear his sandals all through the winter too. We found the most adorable pair of sandals that lasted us ALL summer long from Clarks. Such great shoes (super affordable during sales!) and the size was a little big at the beginning of the summer but he lived in them until now and I could throw them straight in the washing machine when they were dirty...err...smelly! So we went to Stride Rite and found these on sale for $29.99! Unfortunately, we did not get the $55 Star Wars shoes with flashing lights that Daddy was hoping for.

Luke was feeling a little better today so we headed up for the afternoon to Waynesville to check out one of the Amish kitchens, Der Dutchman. They have all kinds of home made goodies, including this giant pecan roll I splurged on to share with the family! (Also one of Jennie's favs!)

All in all it was a great weekend, we're looking forward to AppleFest coming up at the end of September in Historic downtown Lebanon, OH. For those of you who have kids that like trains (who doesn't?!) they will have 1 hr train rides in and around AppleFest! Click here for more information!

With Halloween right around the corner, we want to know which farms are YOUR favorite for pumpkin picking around the Greater Cincinnati Area and why!  Email us or leave a comment!
